Calamus root – has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, expectorant, choleretic and antibacterial effects. It ameliorates enzymatic digestion, activates a liver biliary function, increases the gallbladder tone and improves urination. Calamus extract is used for treatment of digestive disorders and parasecretion of gastric juice (it normalizes the hydrochloric acid secretion, eliminates heartburn), inflammation of the intestines, intestinal colitis, bloating.
Calamus extract is effective in physical overwork (it promotes muscle growth), after severe illness and surgical procedures; in old age it improves vision, hearing, memory.
In gynaecology, it’s used for treatment of dysmenorrhea, algomenorrhea, insufficient ovarian function, decreased libido and the pathological progress of menopause.
