Liquorice extract – has expectorant, antiviral, anti-allergic, anti-inflammatory effect. The liquorice expectorant effect is associated with its content of glycyrrhizin, which enhances the secretory function of the upper respiratory tract. The liquorice saponins irritate the respiratory tract mucous, as well as mucous membrane of other organs, increasing their glands’ secretion. Due to flavonoid compounds, liquorice has an antispasmodic effect on the smooth muscles of the bronchi. Of particular note is the immunomodulatory effect of liquorice, its extract significantly increases the organism resistance, even in the case of patients with severe and chronic diseases (such as AIDS); it also has antioxidant properties
